When I was first contacted to do this session, I wasn't sure what to expect. The goal? A foreign exchange student from China wanting to show her friends and family back home her life in Washington. Originally, we were set to meet at her old apartment complex, but after talking it over, she decided the Seattle Library was the place to meet. I love the Seattle library! It is so architecturally interesting which can add so much to a photograph. We we finally met for our session, she was so excited and ready for anything. Plus, she had a challenge for me. She asked "how do I look American?" That was an interesting question. How would you describe or pose to show you're truly a part of the American culture? Working together, here are a few great shots we came up with! This next shot was actually not planned. We were walking down the street and a friend called. Having to take it, she was standing in front of a Starbucks. I thought, how perfect is that?! Starbucks and Seattle go hand in hand, plus talking on your cell phone! This is my favorite shot from the session. When I had first asked her to jump, she wasn't sure. She had said that she would never jump in a photo back home; her family was very serious and strict. But then she said "you know what, this is America, I'm going to try it." And just look what we got. No joke, this is her first try. Afterwards, she told me she loved it and had so much fun!

Thank you for a new view of a photo session. You challenged me to think about my photo sessions in a new light. To all my readers, I challenge you to try something new this weekend! What will you try? Leave me a comment and let me know!
