This family was referred by a local photographer friend. This mom was looking for some photos before this family adopted a child. As a Seattle family photographer, I knew I had to fit them in. However, I didn’t know how much I needed this session. After two years in the foster care system, I was adopted at 10 years old. You can say I have a special place in my heart for families who adopt.
Their story is one that pulls at your heartstrings. Mom traveled to China to meet and find her child. She went with the idea they would adopt a baby or toddler. But then she saw her and knew, a 10-year-old girl with muscular dystrophy was her daughter. This July the family gets to bring their daughter home.
Family Photos Matter
The day of their session my own children were insane. I felt drained from the day, yet I picked up my camera and headed to their session. As I got to know them and as I clicked my shutter, my creative spirit was ignited, I was filled. Their excitement and joy was so contagious. Their love for their two daughters was over flowing. I was reminded exactly why I do this, why photography matters. Their girls will be able to look back at their photos and see how loved they are, how much they were wanted and adored.
