Before I begin my tale of three Christmases, how was your Christmas? Can you believe we are rapidly nearing the end of 2013?  Have you started making goals, dreaming new dreams, having envisions of what 2014 will bring? I have. I can't wait to share, but more about that later this week! Instead, a recap on what my family has been up to this past week or so! In case you haven't noticed, I love capturing the everyday moments of my kids lives. For me, everyday moments are the ones that truly tell their story, and will help them see who they were when they look back on everything I've documented for them. Now, Christmas isn't everyday, but this past week, it sure felt like it! Derek and I love Christmas. I love the music, the decorations, the joy and love in the air. This year was even more magical as we had two little ones full of excitement.

To keep my kids' (and my own) head from exploding from trying to see everyone on Christmas day, we split Christmas up into three (hence, a Tale of Three Christmases!). The Saturday before Christmas, we celebrated with my parents. We were able to spend the entire day over their, just like it was Christmas when I was a kid!

Of course, the kids had adorable Christmas jammies (thanks to a favorite client of mine who MADE them for the kids!). Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday PhotographyAfter homemade biscotti and coffee/hot chocolate it was time for present opening. Sawyer got right in on the action. Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday Photography

My dad got this stylish, "sophisticated" hat, but Sawyer, being the fashionista she is, swiped it right up and put it on!Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday Photography

I was so proud of Milo this season. He waited his turn to open presents and he helped those who asked, but did just tear open anyone's present. It was so cute, as he decided we needed to take the "stickers" off the present before opening the gifts. I knew that was a defining detail for him this Christmas and I had to capture it. Can you see that concentration on his face as his little fingers try to peel off the tag?!Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday PhotographySawyer and her Grandpa. I'm pretty sure my little girl has her grandpa wrapped around her finger. Look how sweet they are together!Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday PhotographyMilo's main present from my parents was this awesome train set. It is the coolest set too, the train moves and everything! He played for hours with the set that morning (and every morning since then). Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday PhotographySawyer loved her Minnie Mouse play set. The little house plays music when you push the heart button. She kept pushing it and dancing along. So precious.Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday PhotographyMilo and his daddy were worn out after all that present opening! I was too, but I couldn't resist capturing this sweet moment of my two favorite boys together. Tale of Three Christmases, Everyday Photography

It was a special day filled with traditions from my childhood, that was so wonderful to share with my husband and kids. From the looks on their faces throughout the day, I know they enjoyed it too.

Stay tuned, for a Tale of Three Christmases Part II and Part III later this week! And what new challenge did I tackle this holiday season and what are some goals for 2014? All coming this week!
