My Little Minnie

With Sawyer's birthday rapidly approaching I had to capture my little Minnie. For her 2nd birthday party we are doing a Minnie Mouse theme since she gets so excited by all things Minnie Mouse. I admit, I'm just as excited as (okay, maybe more excited) Sawyer. I always like to include an image for my birthday invites, which meant a mini photo shoot for Sawyer. They turned out so cute I had to share a couple with you! This first image is the one I ended up choosing for her invite. She's just too darling (I may be slightly biased though).

She's showing me where Minnie is! Her smile makes me smile.my little minnie, sweet toddler girl, Minnie Mouse ShirtThen she got bored and silly by playing with her shoes. But here's my secret. I was bribing with smarties (the perfect photo shoot bribe as it isn't messy, they are small and have lots in a little pack). my little minnie, sweet toddler girl, Minnie Mouse ShirtMilo didn't want to be left out of our shoot (he wanted in on the Smarties action). So I captured his new socks. He was SO excited about the new pack of "GIANT" socks I got for him. He kept thanking it. It was too darling not to take a picture to remember his love for socks. (Here's a secret, if I could, I would wear a brand new pair of socks everyday. Strange, but true!). Preschool Boy, Socks

My Little Mermaid

Sawyer is my little mermaid. She has loved swim lessons. She gets so excited if she sees her swim suit. A few days she has worn it for the day because I made the mistake of laying it out early! Derek and I take turns taking her to class. I decided to go on a day Derek took her so that I could capture my little mermaid! I didn't have my camera out, but I grabbed a quick photo with my phone of them walking in together. She was so sweet in her Minnie Mouse cover up, holding onto dad's hand!little mermaid, toddler swim photosThey start class with back floating. While Milo hates being on his back, Sawyer doesn't mind it. They are supposed to put the doll on their tummy to focus on, but she likes to look at the ceiling and the lane flags. little mermaid, toddler swim photosThen it is time to throw Pooh and go after him. She just cracks up and gets so excited. I love her big smile here!little mermaid, toddler swim photosShe got Pooh and she was so proud!little mermaid, toddler swim photosThey use this big floating mat for the kids to swim under. I love how Sawyer is bracing for the impact of the water fountain up ahead! little mermaid, toddler swim photosSawyer's favorite part of class is the end where they get to jump in. She gets so excited and runs down the plank. After her turn, she can't wait to go again and tries to swim to the front of the line. You have to love her tongue out as she prepares to jump (okay, walk off the end)!little mermaid, toddler swim photos

Sadly, swim lessons are over this session. We will have to get our kiddie pool out on hot days!

Finally Documenting 2013 | Digital Project Life

On my recent women's craft retreat (more to come on that later!) I was finally documenting 2013! What does that mean? Isn't 2013 over how am I documenting 2013? Well, for me, taking a ton of photos and loading them onto the computer to be lost forever isn't truly documenting the year. I want to have my photos available for my kids to pour through. Sure, I have prints around the house. But it was time to start putting together my 2013 photo album! As you've seen in previous month's posts, I'm using Digital Project Life as a method for designing my personal albums. When I'm done I will use Blurb to print the album. This year I'm trying to stay up to date with my pages design, but I'm also working backwards as I admit I've fallen behind! Without further ado, I am finally documenting 2013! (Here's January at least!)

We started the year off in the happiest place on earth - DISNEYLAND! Milo's first ride was Dumbo's Flight, and then it was onto the tea cups with Grandma. There were lots of characters to meet and things to see!

Documenting 2013, Digital Project LifeMilo's favorite part was the parade and the playground in Mickey's Toon Town. There were so many great moments, I'm so glad I'm finally getting them into an album to be printed!Documenting 2013, Digital Project LifeAfter Disneyland, we headed down to San Diego, where we met up with some great friends. In true Washingtonian spirit, we were the only ones on the beach in January! We also visited the San Diego Zoo several times. All of the kids loved the animals. I admit, it was an awesome zoo.Documenting 2013, Digital Project LifeOnce back home, it was settling in for a few fun things around the house. Milo got a big boy hair cut, and started trying to dress himself - with things like Derek's shorts. Sawyer was so small, I can't believe how much they have both grown since last year. The kids played so well together, and their relationship was really starting to blossom! Documenting 2013, Digital Project Life I can't wait to finish up (I'm almost done documenting 2013) and get my own hard copy in the mail! There is so much great about digital photography, but there is nothing like holding the photo album in your hands, pouring through it with your kids.

Capture Your Disney Side

Has your family visited Disneyland but you've struggled to capture your Disney side? I don't know if you know this, but I LOVE Disney. My entire family does. Sawyer gets beyond excited by Minnie Mouse. Milo loves Cars, Planes, Mickey Mouse, Eeyore. The only thing that made Derek love Disney more, was their acquiring his second love, Star Wars. In college, Derek and I went to Walt Disney World as our first big trip together. Two years later, we returned to Disney World for our honeymoon. And 5 years after that, we took our kids to Disneyland even though they were only 22 months and 4 months old. Did I mention that we LOVE Disney? Capture your Disney Side

Disney holds a special place in my heart. It was the first big vacation my family went on together as a child. It was a truly magical vacation, as were each of the other times I've visited the Happiest Place(s) on Earth. The cast at Disney pays so much attention to every detail. Nothing gets overlooked at Disney. Okay, almost nothing. Disney, I love you, but your photos stink. If you only had the park photographers take your vacation experience you would be stuck with a bunch of cheesy photos of your family standing together (hopefully) and smiling at the camera in front of the big attractions like Cinderella's Castle. Or maybe you're standing next to Goofy smiling. But what about the moment before that is often missed, but so much more important? What about the moment your child meets their favorite character for the first time?

Capture Your Disney Side

There is so much magic and enjoyment during a vacation at a Disney Park. But for mom, this can often mean stress of trying to capture all of these magic moments. And if mom is taking the photos, she's only in the ones the park photographer took, the photos that fail to capture your Disney side. But what if you had a photographer there just for you? What if I was there capturing parts of your vacation so that you didn't have to?

capture your Disney Side

This is my dream - to capture your Disney side. I want to allow you to have your vacation without worries, while I capture the magic that Disney brings. Instead of dealing with carrying a camera around the park all day, leave it to me to capture the big (and little) moments from your vacation. While we are at it, let's get a couple of family portraits, because what a better backdrop then at Disneyland?!

Are you planning a trip to Disneyland soon? I'm looking for families interested in having a lifestyle vacation photographer and/or a Disney Family Photo session.  If this sounds like your family, email me at info@neyssalee.com and we can start talking about all of the details of how to capture your Disney side! Oh and don't worry, it doesn't mean you're spending your ENTIRE vacation with me. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to go to Disneyland without taking the time to ride Peter Pan's Flight!
